At Hillocks Primary Academy nursery, we have created a space where children feel excited to explore and learn. Being part of our school community means your child can take part in seasonal events with the older children getting them ready for a smooth transition to full-time school.
We have a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces dedicated to nursery that are designed to help your child grow. We provide waterproof clothing and wellington boots so children can enjoy outdoor activities in all weather. Nursery children also take part in PE lessons, including sessions led by specialist coaches.
Group learning area – a space for group activities, storytelling, and discussions.
Home corner – a place for pretend play and imagination.
Maths and writing areas – encouraging early number and writing skills.
Reading corner – a quiet and cozy space to encourage a love of reading.
Sensory play areas – designed to support sensory exploration with malleable play equipment and water play.
Construction and arts areas – spaces for building, painting, and crafting.
Climbing frame – helping children develop coordination and confidence.
Mud kitchen – a fun way to play and explore different textures.
Outdoor reading area – a peaceful spot for stories in the fresh air.
Tricycles and balance bikes – encouraging movement and gross motor skills.
Water, sand, and construction play areas – supporting problem-solving and creativity.
Forest school area – a natural space for outdoor learning and discovery.
Outdoor gym-style and climbing equipment – to build confidence and strength.
We offer flexible session times to fit around your schedule:
Full day sessions are available as well as breakfast club from 8.00am. Children who stay for the full day can bring a packed lunch or have a school meal.
Families may be eligible for 15 or 30 hours free childcare which can be spread across morning, afternoon or full day spaces.

Our parents as partners transition programme includes activities to help everyone feel comfortable with additional opportunities to meet staff, learn about the curriculum, and join in learning with your child.
