Diverse Academies Trust – a multi-academy trust with schools across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire – has announced that the Sutton-in-Ashfield based Hillocks Primary and Nursery has joined the Trust following its conversion to academy status.

On the 1 December, the school was formally welcomed to Diverse Academies following a period of partnership working. David Cotton, CEO of Diverse Academies Trust, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Hillocks has joined our family of cross-phase academies. As a Trust, we take great pride in placing the community at the heart of our what we do, and we look forward to now taking a lead role in Hillocks’ school improvement journey.

“We have ambitious plans for our Trust and what we can collectively achieve. In line with our vision, our role as educators is to nurture curiosity, develop wellbeing and empower children and young people to go beyond their aspirations. We have a breadth of incredibly talented and dedicated professionals and leaders across all areas of our organisation. And together with the team at Hillocks, we will build on this strength.”

Diverse Academies’ Lucy Spacey has been appointed as the executive principal, which will see the established partnership between Wainwright Primary in Mansfield and Samuel Barlow Primary in Clipstone expanded to include Hillocks Primary. Lucy will work closely with Margaret Newcombe, existing principal at Hillocks, and alongside other academies within the Trust, to form an extensive network of primary educational experts.

Lucy commented: “We have a wonderful team of staff at Hillocks, and children who are eager to learn, develop and grow as individuals. With support from colleagues across the Trust, we will focus our resources where they will have the most impact – something you simply can’t achieve working as a standalone, single-phase school. Together, we will ensure that the pupils at Hillocks are given every opportunity to progress, reach and exceed expectations.”
